Walking you dog can be a wonderful experience, It's not only good for them but also very good for you. Teaching your dog to walk by your side can be tricky. It will take time and lots of love and rewards.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • To get started you will need a Gentle Leader Headcollar. You can buy this at any pet store.
Step 1

Go to your local pet store and buy a gentle leader head collar. The collars are about 20.00. They come in small, medium, and large. Take the time to read all the instructions, Very important to use the head collar properly.

Step 2

Your dog will not like this collar, but he will get use to it. You may have to bribe him with treats. Once the collar is on he will roll around and pout. This pouting is normal. Don't yank or pull him wait for him to see that the collar will not hurt him in any way. He will get up and start to walk.


Step 3
If your dog is a puller, He will soon find out that you are the one in control not him. When you control the head, you control the dog. You will be amazed on how well he will walk. It is very important not to pull or yank. If he starts to get out of line, stop and his head will have to turn back to face you. This is almost like a horse bridle. Your the one in control not him.
